About Trey Dunham

I am the oldest of four boys in our family, and as such, the de facto leader. I started the go-kart gang, the lemonade stand, and the basketball and baseball games in our front yard. My younger brothers often wanted to tag along, which was normally annoying, and I was often tempted to ditch them. But I knew that if I did, I would hear it from my father. I can’t even count how many times he said to me, “Make sure you include your younger brothers.”

That mantra still rings in my ears, and I think those words, maybe more than any others, have stuck with me my whole life. Make sure everyone is included. Make sure everyone has a place.

WORLD ORPHANS
I first heard about the ministry of World Orphans from a friend who was raising support to join their team. He explained the ministry’s vision to empower, equip, and energize the church to care for those who do not have a place, a home–orphans. As he spoke, I heard echoes of my father’s voice.

During one of our conversations, my friend shared a verse from James: “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” That verse inspired me, and while I was excited for his new adventure with World Orphans, I was also a bit jealous that it wasn’t mine. “Maybe someday,” I thought.

MY ROLE
Many of you know that I left full-time ministry a few years ago to pursue writing, and it is my intention to continue in this vein. However, when the opportunity presented itself to join the World Orphans team–to empower churches to care for orphans–I felt that this must be God’s leading.

World Orphans needed a part-time graphic designer to join the Communications Team, and I have some skills and experience in that area. It seems like a great fit and even better timing. In this role, I will help communicate all that God is accomplishing in the lives of orphans, refugees, and churches around the world.

MY NEED
I need to raise some prayer and financial support. World Orphans has about 60% of my salary covered by their current budget, which is a huge help, but I’ll require additional support to make ends meet. I would never want to take away from other areas where you’re giving, but if you feel led, your support would be greatly appreciated.

Until they all have homes,
Trey
